Ultimately, CPM is a consulting
relationship that has associated costs and responsibilities at
each stage.
The Development period incurs traditional time-on-task invoicing;
ARCH services are undertaken on
a progressive basis and continue at the discretion of the hospital.
The Operations period introduces a risk-sharing element with ARCH,
in terms of co-generation of projects; it is for mutual benefit
that success be achieved as quickly as possible.
Financial outlay during the Development stage varies in relation
to existing elements and the hospital's current infrastructure
that can be used for trials. Bringing the facility into readiness
and up to industry standards may require research-related staff
additions as well as the creation of the proper infrastructure.
Typically, hospitals that implement the CPM
program generate a positive cash flow within one year and recap
their investment within the second year of conducting Clinical
Trials.
